Counterfeit, unsafe version of Botox® has made its way into the U.S. market.

FDA recently issued an alert about fraudulent Botox®/Botox® Cosmetic imported from an unlicensed supplier not authorized to ship and distribute drugs within the United States. The counterfeit Botox® was seized by the FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations. The product is deemed unsafe due to the uncertain quality of manufacturing and possibility of improper storage and handling. This fake Botox® may have been sold to medical practices nationwide.

At Chevy Chase Dermatology, we never compromise patients’ safety in order to contain costs. We do not purchase our cosmetic supplies from illegal, discounted internet sources like other practices may. Such products can potentially be expired, ineffective, or dangerous. We order our Botox® Cosmetic directly from Allergan.

Another example of Dr. Sommerville's dedication to quality is that she takes the time to personally dilute Botox® and Dysport® which are sold as freeze-dried powder in vials to be mixed with saline. This task is relegated to support staff in other practices. Dr. Sommerville insists on having full control over the final concentration of the injected product which contributes to optimal clinical results.
