Restylane^® is a crystal clear hyaluronic acid gel that restores volume and fullness in the skin to correct wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds. It requires no skin pre-testing and has been safely used since 1996 worldwide. Temporary swelling and redness at the injection site typically resolve within two to three days. The average treatment results last six months or even longer. Restylane® is available in 70 countries and has been used in over 1.4 million treatments in the U.S.

Restylane® is most often requested in order to eliminate or reduce the smile lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, or to restore the contour and shape of the lips. The treatment session involves injecting the wrinkle area with Restylane® using an ultrafine needle. In order to diminish discomfort associated with the injection, Restylane-L® now contains an addition of an anesthetic, lidocaine. To further reduce the discomfort associated with the injection, we also routinely apply a topical anesthetic cream to the treatment site prior to the procedure. The results of the treatment for most patients are instantaneous and accomplished with minimal downtime. In order to minimize the chance of bruising that may occur as a result of the injection, patients should avoid aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, fish oil, or vitamin E supplements prior to treatment.
