Thanksgiving is fast approaching and most of us will gain a few pounds over the holidays. It may be tempting to find out how to stay svelte the rest of the year.

European women drink in moderation and they tend to drink “the good stuff”. A study in the Archives of Internal Medicine has shown that those who drink wine in moderation tend to remain slim and actually weigh less than their non-drinking counterparts. European women drink lots of water and freshly squeezed juices instead of soda, soft drinks, or processed fruit juices. They stick to French-press coffee or espresso containing up to three times the antioxidant polyphenols of a regular coffee. They drink tea, lots of tea and start their day with hot water with lemon, which they believe has cleansing powers. They drink milk, an excellent source of calcium, vitamin D, and protein.
