About Us
The great thing in the world is not so much where you are
but in what direction you are going.

Margaret Sommerville, M.D.
At Chevy Chase Dermatology, we strive not only to provide our patients with the best possible results of offered treatments, but also to make them feel valued and respected. We insist on continual education of our staff and strongly believe that staying abreast of the most recent knowledge is essential in order to give our patients the care they want and deserve.
Our Medical Director, Dr. Sommerville, believes that dermatologists are uniquely trained and qualified to understand the basis of skin reaction patterns and to respond to cosmetic and medical concerns that often coexist in the same patient. Dermatologists are also trained to safely address any unforeseen complications of treatments that may rarely arise.
Dr. Sommerville believes in high ethical standards for all providers and is concerned about documented reports of patients receiving substandard treatments at certain medical spas. There are reports of cosmetic practices using counterfeit BOTOX® illegally obtained from online pharmacies exposing patients to unacceptable risks. Substituting injectable fillers for cheaper imported or counterfeit alternatives without patients' knowledge or consent has also been documented.
At Chevy Chase Dermatology, we never compromise safety in order to contain costs. We treat our patients the way we would like to be treated ourselves; with dignity, honesty, competence and discretion.
