INTRODUCING DYSPORT®, A NEW TYPE OF BOTULINUM TOXIN…
Dysport® is a new type of type A botulinum toxin that was approved by the FDA in April 2009, providing an alternative to Botox® Cosmetic. While Botox® has been the only type A botulinum toxin available in the U.S. over the last 20 years, Dysport® has been in use in 73 countries since 1991.
Both products are very effective for erasing or softening the frown lines, crow’s feet, or horizontal forehead lines. Dysport® appears to have a slightly more rapid onset of action. The duration of effect is 3 to 6 months.
Dr. Sommerville now offers her patients the option of choosing between Botox Cosmetic and Dysport. So far, the feedback from patients regarding the results of treatment with Dysport® has been very positive.
