‘Tis the Season for Cosmetic Procedures: Why Winter Can Be a Great Time for Treatment

You don’t need to wait for a specific time of the year for a cosmetic procedure, but as we approach colder months, you might want to consider the benefits of treatment during the winter.

Winter is a great time in particular for procedures that use a laser, including resurfacing, hair removal, surgery, and spider vein treatments. This is because most of us tend to be paler over the winter, and lasers are most effective on pale skin. Self-tanners also interfere with lasers, so if you’re a fan of self-tan products, you need to get laser treatment when you’re not using them.

Colder weather also means that you tend to wear more clothing, which protects treated skin and veins while they heal. Some procedures—such as peels, resurfacing, and microdermabrasion—require you to avoid sun exposure for a period of time after treatment. It’s of course easier to stay out of the sun when days are short and you’re spending more time indoors. And we you do venture out, you’re bundling up and staying covered anyways.

You also might want to take advantage of time off from work during the holidays to have cosmetic treatments. This means you can comfortably enjoy some privacy as your skin heals.
