The changing seasons isn’t just the perfect opportunity for you to get a new wardrobe, but it’s also a great chance for you to get better skin. Typically, when we transition from summer to fall, patients experience dry, peeling skin which can be a bit irritating. To get rid of dry skin, exfoliation is key, but there are different types of exfoliation that you can do depending on how much you need.

High Exfoliation

If your skin is really dry and is having a hard time adapting to cooler temperatures, then we may recommend microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is typically good for patients with all skin types and colors. During this procedure, we will use a small handheld device that has crystals on it. These crystals will gently exfoliate your skin to help you get rid of dead, dry, flaking skin in the process. And after each treatment, we will apply a serum to help soothe it.

Medium Exfoliation

Another exfoliating trend that’s popular right now is at-home microdermabrasion. Although many of these tools are safe, they aren’t quite as effective as getting an in-office microdermabrasion treatment done, but they can still be good for surface-level stuff. Just make sure that you choose a trusted brand like the PMD and that you follow all instructions as closely as possible.

Light Exfoliation

You should be doing light exfoliation around two to three times per week with a gentle face scrub. Face scrubs are great at getting rid of dry skin around your nose, moth, and t-zone. Plus, they are mild enough that they won’t irritate your skin, but if you do them too much, they can dry you out.
